What’s the downside? This almost looks too good. I don’t like the battery size but this is hitting almost every other desire-list checkbox. I love the prospect of having touchpad options, and that 6-button panel is such a great idea.

Maybe the button-swap panels will feel weirdly loose over time? Can it run SteamOS?

IMO a device like this should be portable first, and that means a reasonable battery life, and generally a system trying to do more with less. Also $900-$1500 is a deal breaker for a lot of people.

Look like the lynx from back in the day.

Can imagine those swap modules are good for longevity though.

Dunno. Despite the swappable inputs, there is still no way to get trackpad + joystick + buttons/dpad at the same time.

Trackpad+buttons on the right, joystick+dpad on the left, maybe ? Sure you loose one trackpad and one joystick in the trade, but technically…

Which is what I mean - any way you slice it, this has 2 inputs less than the Steam Deck (I haven’t looked for the number of grip buttons on this thing).

I don’t use all the input options on every single game, but there are plenty that I do (namely shooters like Deep Rock, Helldivers, etc and hotkey heavy RPGs like DA Inquisition)

      The modular capabilities, I/O ports.

The one thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t support SteamOS and the list of issues with Bazzite does not inspire confidence.

Man I was ready to trash this post as an ad, but this stopped me. IMO you should put your opinion in the post to make for a more compelling interaction… otherwise it’s just an RSS feed with more steps.

On topic: I like the concept of handheld that can do double duty via oLink etc. With a lot of these handhelds I think we’re on the verge of seeing something finally replace laptops. There’s some hurdles to jump but I genuinely feel like this formfactor is part of the next step.

Better (more ergonomic) form factor for one thing.

Steam deck is too damn big, and uncomfortable, in my opinion.
