Sharing via link is a fairly recent feature, which makes Signal useful as a Discord / Matrix competitor. Previously, group additions had to be from someone creating or already in a group.
Chat rooms were released in 2020 fyi
Pressing “Join Group” just makes my Signal app crash on Android 🥴

Why? Do you not have a phone number? Is it blocked in your country? Are you legally prohibited from using software with end to end encryption?
The requirement of phone number is for me a bit restrictive
