Bluesky’s moderation team is shit. Recently, their “head of trust and safety” went full Elongated Muskrat and tried to permanently ban a user who was tracking his public data.

I’ve looked at SDF before, and one thing has never changed: I have no idea what I’m looking at or how it works, and the more I look the more esoteric it seems.
Edit: Ah, that’s right, I dropped looking at SDF before because of how condescending their FAQs are.
Not so much self-hosting related (though I do run a Jellyfin server on this PC), but within the past week, I was sure I was gonna have to reinstall my os (and probably take the opportunity to jump distros) because audio just would not work. Everything seemed to think it was fine. Even OBS was picking up the audio, but there was no output. Persisted through reboots and everything.
I have no idea what happened to cause it or fix it.
Police say it appears to be a suicide. Probably true, honestly, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t driven to it.
I present: the reason we can’t have nice things.
A very short summary that may not be entirely accurate but is close enough:
WP Engine made a good amount of money off of WordPress without contributing back, and Automattic broke their own license to fight them, all the while the CEO became increasingly unhinged.
So it’s no longer “Pepe isn’t used by extremists on Steam,” it’s now “Pepe being used by extremists on Steam doesn’t matter,” huh?
Goalpost status: moved.
How does that saying go?
That didn’t happen.
And if it did, it wasn’t that bad.
And if it was, that’s not a big deal.
And if it is, that’s not my fault.
And if it was, I didn’t mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it.
I love it when people respond to exactly one line and ignore the rest of my comment. Totally not a bad faith argument at all. Totally not exactly the same shit Reddit bigots always did.
Uh huh, uh huh.
Meanwhile, here on earth, Matt Furie’s own lawyer brought up the fact that, on Steam, Pepe emotes were being used “in connection with hateful speech.”
Tell me something, has that changed, or is it possible, just maybe, that the Steam Community is one of those places I was referring to?
So now tell me this, when you claim that it’s ridiculous to treat Pepe use as a sign of hate on Steam Community, are you ignoring the active, proven and admitted use alongside hate speech, or are you trying to downplay it?
Just because the creator doesn’t want it used as a hate symbol doesn’t automatically mean it isn’t used as one, and next to chan-level garbage is the grand total of where I’ve seen Pepe.
Third-party apps like boost can do this, so I assume the frontend could if they wanted.
I mean, they have Source 2, but to call it a rival before it’s even made it to third-party developers (Facepunch is effectively second party) is a bit of a stretch.
Galaxy definitely sucks, but to say it’s worse than EGS seems pretty far out there. EGS has been caught snooping around files and taking system logs without notice on top of just being overly resource intensive, totally bare bones and easily broken.
That response doesn’t make any sense. You do know this game received a major update just last week and has native Vulkan support, right?
I’ve been running Pop OS strictly for a few months now, but in terms of gaming, it just doesn’t quite feel like it’s quite there for me.
Take Half-Life 2 for instance. Valve is one of the few devs/publishers actually making an effort with Linux, and it shows, but it still manages to be inferior.
By default, it uses OpenGL, which is… a mess. Just plain a mess. It’s bad. Busted lighting, models look off, effects don’t draw right. This has no business being the default.
So, command line options, turn on Vulkan. 1 billion times better. Looks right, feels right… crashes on boot occasionally… and the workshop uploader crashes too…
Well, there’s always Proton, except… yeah, performance is decreased a bit. That’s nothing major here, but since I don’t have the best hardware, it becomes more of an issue with newer games. In regards to HL2, though, it also introduces microstuttering, which is absolutely a big deal.
So… one article that explains the situation as “Godot said something inclusive, bigots got angry, started harassment campaign,” and another full of dog whistles?
Bruh, you a fuckin clown.
Gonna be real, microblogging is never gonna really work with decentralization. It barely works when centralized. It’s isolating by nature, and only really amplifies the voices that are already the loudest, and the introduction of separate servers and federation delays only make those problems worse.
