    God I wish my network in Canada still supported Fairphones. My last Fairphone just stopped connecting to cellular service one day, which I probably should have expected given it’s European bands only.

      i’m in the opposite situation as you; i buy forgeign phones at 1/10 the price of “american” phones but with all of the features.

      a few months ago, american carriers started blacklisting chinese chipsets from their networks and now i can no longer be sure that a phone works in the united states unless i buy it from an american brand like apple or samsung; which also means that i have to pay a lot more if i want the same features that the $1200 iphone has.

    I actually quite like this. A little bit smaller 120hrz screen, a solid and efficient SD 7s gen 3, slightly bigger battery, 100 bucks less than FP5 on release. Those are big wins in my book.

    But no 3.5 jack… something EVERYBODY complained about. There’s no good excuse to not add this. And the fact FP is not known for quality software (update policy, unpolished and buggy software) is something to keep in mind.

    EDIT: i decided to go for it and ordered the Forest Green e/os version! I can post a review once i have it, if people here would enjoy that.

    The first phone maker that makes a 5 to 5.5in phone or so will be a tremendous global success, not just among us, with private oriented OS, but for also the regular Android users… gosh, it would even bring a bunch of ‘regulars’ to the FOSS arena just to get a smaller phone size!! Tens of thousands of us, with the will and the disposable income, have been demanding smaller phone for years and still, no single Android is below 6in yet! How they cannot see this untapped market niche is beyond me!

          What i find crazy is modules are not hard… make a ribbon usb hub into the case, each module can be attached via usb…

          Hell, it could just be a usb hub phone case… give people the option to swap cameras, storage, headphone… kinda like what framework does with their usb-slots but smaller

    A lot of good points - the minimal switch is a great idea - but needing to use a screwdriver to open the case and swap batteries, while still only being IP55, feels like a step in the wrong direction.
