I would die on the opposite hill. No spaces, only tabs.
What’s your reasoning for liking spaces?

I was cat sitting for my sister in law, and her cat jammed her whole face deep into my shoe and sat there for a minute. When I got home, my cat did the same thing on the same shoe. After that I was pretty self conscious about stinky feet.
Can confirm. My cat doesn’t give a crap about catnip. She does go crazy for the smell of stinky feet though.
I had read that Francis appointed 80% of the Cardinals who pick the new Pope. So it’s possible that the new Pope will have similar views to Francis.
Well it kinda depends. If criticizing the government could get you disappeared, then yeah, it’s logical for your parents to discourage that so they don’t lose you. It’s possible that they lost someone in your old country because of that and they don’t want to have that happen again.
On the other hand, if your new country has freedom of speech enshrined in law (and that law seems to be followed) then yeah, it would be silly not to criticize if you have criticisms.
Your mom has a point, focusing on things you cannot control might not be the best use of your time. If you disagree, then that’s fine, that’s your decision. I know that personally, I can get fixated on politics which will make me depressed, anxious, and overall shitty feeling. I need to carefully balance awareness/protest and what I can reasonably hope to achieve with my general quality of life.
I use Kopia to backup to Backblaze B2. I also use the Kopia UI since I can’t be bothered to figure out the cli for it. I have it running constantly in the background so it automatically takes care of everything.
For some reason “dildo” is way funnier than “you dildo”. Thanks for the laugh
I would assume the older washing machines with a big metal or plastic agitator in the drum would be much, much harder on clothes than modern front loading washers. Modern washers just toss the clothes around to agitate, rather than using a big hunk of material to do it. That being said, I think some modern washers run longer cycles than old ones, so it could be a toss up as to which causes the most wear.
I’m using Linux Mint (Cinnamon) with a 3070. I have absolutely zero issues.
How is improving the specs of a standard a scam? It’s not like a phone that entices people to buy them with new “features” of questionable utility. Cables are boring! Most people don’t buy HDMI cables for fun; they probably only buy them when they get a new device or when an existing cable dies. And even then, who is going to shell out for an expensive version of a cable that they won’t utilize its capabilities? Most people buy whatever is cheapest.
Pill pockets are the only way we can get our cat to take her pills. But we’ve had to put the pills into little gelatin capsules and wrap those in pills pockets because the pills are bitter. If my cat gets a taste of the bitter pills and the pill pocket, she’ll never eat the pill pocket flavor again.
Reddit does shitty stuff, but at least I’m able to find stuff on there. Why Discord took off as a medium to replace forums is beyond me. It’s not easily searchable, and search engines can’t index it. If people aren’t fastidious about replying to messages they’re responding to, it’s just a nonsense stream of consciousness from dozens of people.
That being said, I hate the formatting of most forums. Reddit and Lemmy’s comment nesting is excellent. It’s very easy to follow conversations.
Cool.
The average income in India is 25x ish less than that of the US. If we scale the $75 million cost to land on the moon by 25 times, we get $1.8 billion. The Perseverance rover’s cost is estimated at $2.75 billion and that thing landed on Mars.
It’s incredibly impressive that India has landed on the moon on their 2nd try. Nothing should take away from that, and India should be very proud of their achievement. But geez this is a braindead article. Yes, poorer countries can pay people less do the same amount of work as someone in another country.
There’s an easier solution. Just make New Year’s Day it’s own thing, not attached to any month. Then every 4 years, you’d have 2 New Year’s Days. Or something.
