to an alternate universe where magic is real and big titty anime girls want to form a party with me.
currently switching all my rhel derived(fedora, centos, rocky, alma) servers over to Debian.
it just works and I’m not afraid of some dumbass political move to block or change access to it.
if all else fails, I’ll probably switch to opensuse.
how do you get around it hallucinating false truths for engineering projects?
do you double check with trusted references?
I worked for a company that did not govern AI use. It was used for a year before they were bought.
I stopped reading emails because they were absolute AI generated garbage.
Clients started to complain and one even left because they felt they were no longer a priority for the company. they were our 5th largest client that had a MRR of $300k+
they still did nothing to curb AI use.
they then reduced the workforce in the call center because they implemented an AI chat bot and began to funnel all incidents through it first before giving a phone number to call.
company was then acquired a year ago. new administration banned all AI usage under security and compliance guidelines.
today, new company hired about 20 new call center support staff. Customers are now happy. I can read my emails again because they contain human competent thought with industry jargon and not some generated thesaurus.
overall, I would say banning AI was the right choice.
IMO, AI is not being used in the most effective ways and causes too much chaos. cryptobros are pushing AI to an early grave because all they want is a cash cow to replace crypto.
I bought all my devices refurbished from ebay.
on my xps 15 I saved $1500 alone. still runs fine almost 10 years later.
just slap another patch on it.
if you don’t support the product you must make it FOSS. been saying it for years.
I have work colleagues. people I commiserate with on interoffice politics and the like.
I don’t have friends.
I’m too old for other peoples bullshit and refuse to change my QoL because “Jerry” decided we’re going on a weekend adventure to methtown USA.
between work, home, and hobbies I’ve got barely enough time to sleep.
Groupthink happens, to answer your question.
I agree with this guy.
I’m very pro privacy, but I’m just going to say out loud that it’s not like US state and federal governments don’t already have photos of your face that can be used to track you. The alternative is to hand over your ID, the thing the government printed after capturing and storing a picture of your face.
Did you know the TSA is a public branch of defense that sits between the DOD and the NSA?
I bet you didn’t know that whatever data the TSA collects they can sell to corporations and back to the government for “validations”.
the key is corporations can buy your private data from the government.
so yeah, this is a HUGE privacy issue.
don’t look guys! I totally did not piss my pants!
