Anybody else remember Turntable.fm? It’s gone now but it was so much fun. Literally anyone could hop on the virtual turntables and drop a set (or just play individual songs if they didn’t have the skillset).

Don’t know why it shut down but it probably had something to do with copyright. But for a brief moment it was some of the most fun I ever had on the internet.

My only problem with it is that it’s boring. Literally Shower Thoughts: The Website (featuring Politics).

Supposedly there are people you can subscribe to to see some actual news and get away from all those boring text posts, but I can’t find them and don’t know where to look. I even used one of those websites that subscribe you to groups of people en-masse to help get you started, but that just made things worse. Now my feed is full of opinions from people I’ve never heard of, know nothing of, and couldn’t care less about.

I’m sorry but I just don’t understand the appeal of this whole Twitter/Twitter clone thing.

One thing I love about owning an automatic pressure cooker is that the days of forgetting to prepare a meal before I leave for work are long gone. No need to slow cook, when you can have the most tender, delicious meat in under an hour. Most meats take 20 minutes. It’s healthier too because the faster cooking retains nutrients. And more flavorful because the pressure helps your sauce/seasonings infuse within the muscle fibers.

No kitchen should go without.

Please have decent mod support so that we can import/create our own characters and movesets and use them in battles against other players online.

I tried it a year ago; felt very much like an unfinished project. Too many missing features. Has it improved a lot since then?

Relay for Reddit will always be my favorite. It had a nice tablet mode and the “swipe to do everything” interface was nice.

I have yet to find a decent replacement for it. Voyager is alright but I swear that it was designed to maximize unintentional button presses. It’s so easy to accidentally go to the community or the user’s profile when I just wanted to click on the post. And I can’t even count the number of times I accidentally collapsed a comment when I was trying to edit or upvote it instead. This is why the swiping interface was so nice. Made it almost impossible to unintentionally do the wrong action.

I miss Relay so much, but unfortunately the developer decided to play by Reddit’s rules and start charging people to use the app. So it’s never coming to Lemmy.

Same. Unfortunately I still need to visit smaller subreddits to get answers on niche topics, but that’s my only use for it now. In and out; 10 minute adventure. Not spending all day on the front page like I used to. Any more time than that on the website, and I’ll just end up getting into an argument with some Gen Alpha idiot who feels the need to butt in and say something ignorant. 10-15 years ago you’d only see that kind of behavior during summer break. Now /r/SummerReddit is all of reddit.

I hope that one day I can finally abandon that shithole for good.

Add 3-4 more USB-C/Thunderbolt ports and that is a perfectly adequate setup (especially since one will be taken up by the charging cable if you don’t have a dock, and even then I could get by). I’m actually impressed that there are so many ports on it…for an Apple laptop.

I’m no Apple fanboy (never owned a product of theirs and never will) but to be fair, those two USB-C ports can do everything the old, removed ports can do and more. The real crime here is not putting enough of them on the laptop.

Edit: The only port I’ll lament the removal of is the headphone jack. USB-C headphones are rare, adapters get lost, and bluetooth headphones compress the audio and have input lag. Everything else can go, though, and won’t be missed. (Okay fine ethernet can stay too.)
