The reason people use Pixels has always been utility. The Ai garbage was like putting jelly on a biscuit.

I don’t mind the jelly, personally, but I came for the biscuit, and its still there.

You can still root them, still unlock them, still use custom Roms, kernels, operating systems in some cases. They’re still what they’ve always been.

IMO its because the google everyone liked died with the Pixel 6 and Ai initiatives.

People are literally playing with fire.

On one hand, it could be more Google bullshit like their RCS requirements that lock out custom Roms just so users will buy a new phone or play their cat and mouse game with Magisk modules.

On the other, it could legitimately be a problem with the battery and it needs to be taken seriously.

If those are my options, and there’s no way to know the real truth, I’d swap to a different phone just to be on the safe side.

I’m American and I’ll say both. They(we) let it happen, and our cowardice and inaction right this second just continues it. We had millions of protesters over the weekend. Did anyone listen? Nope. Until we take it back by force, nothing will change and the majority isn’t willing, so, we’re just gonna take it. Every second of inaction is willingness on our part. It can always get worse and does, yet we do nothing.

We deserve it. Maybe it will finally wake us the fuck up, if it doesn’t destroy us first.

I use an A15 and don’t use the SD card slot, but I have a home server and handheld gaming devices. I don’t use my phone to store much of anything.

I’m an outlier. I know a lot of users live in their phones without hardly any backup devices. Those are the ones who will be hit hardest by a decision like this.

A lot of people dive in as if the entire fediverse has the same level of nerve as 4chan.

There are a lot of sensitive people here. The best thing I learned through my dealings with Mastodon is to be kind, and lurk before hitting that comment button.

The level of discord on the fediverse waxes and wanes depending where you are. There are conversations I’d never have here, that I’d gladly have elsewhere with no ill effects. The right words for the right group of people.

I’ve gotten to a point where the quality of a PS2 game is higher to me than most AAA releases. I mostly play retro games, more open multiplayer games that don’t block users like TF2(and TF2) and indies… so, no. I don’t really need Windows for anything.

Facebook Nintendo groups are having a Biblical meltdown right now.
