so a personal ad is all the data could be abused for? I mean meta recently just misused rights of book authors to train their AI with lots of terabytes worth of literature.
Its just a business expense, and so is I imagine personal data storage. Data sciene & full auto analysis catered to your corpo demands could be very powerful and evil in my eyes, idk I wish I could somehow be fully convinced that theres no danger, but I just am not as long as corporates see these things as business expenses and exists like nothing happened
arakhis_@feddit.orgOPto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Do alternative frontends for twitch exist (like pstube/freetube/piped for YT)?1·13 days agoThanks i will look into this.
I’m new to privacy and just want to cut all data selling opportunities for big corpo, does that change or would you add to your response after knowing that? I’m pretty uneducated on the whole backend mechanics, it’s just the possibility of ill intent and the damage corporations can do with such data that frightens me
Your information seems very knowledgeable, so I will be very thankful for more guidance :p
Buying a VPN seems to be something I need to budget in one day… It’s not that easy during these times to get money flexible
arakhis_@feddit.orgOPto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Do alternative frontends for twitch exist (like pstube/freetube/piped for YT)?1·13 days agoon that note, no chat logins in all alternatives mentioned. at least these that also list minimizing data transfer to amazon :(
Would love to hear insights on why Mozilla with uBlock is worse than these front ends that dont specifically list minimizing communication with amazon efforts but only “no ads/open source” (i dont even know what what difference open source makes in that case)

How does that work exactly.
Thank you for your contribution!

also: anyone got emotes and other browser plug-ins to work on the player/site?

Of course I would buy the game officially
arakhis_@feddit.orgto Games@lemmy.world•First-party Switch 2 games—including re-releases—all run either $70 or $80English11·15 days agonice but these tutorials seem to be about jailbreaking consoles not emulation, or am I wrong?
yes lol. I also have a 4070ti though
EDIT: I have no clue where this could be a relevant argument
Am I the only one thinking that a huge chunk of the initial audience are Nintendo adults who already have a pc for main games and a switch on the side?
Feels like this gimmick (although every new Nintendo console gets one) was so forced just to upsell a switch 1 and justify splitting the community with exclusive releases. Really sad to see mk world not playable with a player base on switch 1. Most next gen were happily bought enough with a reasoning in increasing hardware (which the switch 2 really also does well).
Just the predatory move of splitting or even passively force the playerbase to leave behind the switch 1, makes the mouse sensor so MEH… I mean… lackluster in my eyes. Idk
arakhis_@feddit.orgto vegan@lemmy.world•Agriculture — Especially Cattle Feed — Uses Most of Earth’s FreshwaterEnglish0·16 days agoI’d find it more impactful to make the science paper the main focus (the link). Not some biased Blog – which ofc can be very helpful to initially spark your interest in topics you haven’t heard yet
But we have very strong evidence of this in scientific consensus, a peer reviewed meta analysis: Reducing food’s environmental impacts through producers and consumers by J. Poore, T. Nemecek et al.
(off topic: newer study on ghg bound to nutritional value of items )
Personal no paywall Upload by Poore on his website found here
And processed data visualized well on i.e. Ourworldindata
If you feel lost in any way with these sources, look for imagery figures, they often contain the resulting messages. (but without helping you understand how the results are to be weighted in relevancy due ie data collection methods and choices)
arakhis_@feddit.orgto vegan@lemmy.world•Why we can't buy our way to veganism and animal liberation explainedEnglish0·16 days agoChange in reality is not a switch in a day.
It’s a long process, and so a slow decline in demand. If demand for the unethical product would be flipped with the ethical one like the opposite of what we have now, the practice would effectively be irrelevant and since it’s only alive due subsidies likely also very unprofitable – therefore ‘bought away’ unlike the title claims
It’s a demand issue. And that’s an issue because lack of education for example (at least in my eyes), education about epistemology, logic, moral and empathy
We as individuals are NOT responsible for what consequences other demands bring, this angle feels like taking the burden of the collective world onto one self. But that is not the case
thank you man
