Ughh I tried the gemini model and I’m not too happy with the code it came up with, there’s a lot of intrinsities and concepts that the model doesn’t grasp enough IMO. That said I’ll reevaluate this continuously converting large chunks of code often works ok…

Yeah I think it makes sense out of an economic motivation. Often the code-quality of a junior is worse than that of an AI, and a senior has to review either, so they could just directly prompt the junior task into the AI.
The experience and skill to quickly grasp code and intention (and having a good initial idea where it should be going architecturally) is what is asked, which is obviously something that seniors are good at.
It’s kinda sad that our profession/art is slowly dying out because juniors are slowly replaced by AI.

I guess it really depends on the aspiration for code-quality, complexity (yes it’s good at generating boilerplate). If I don’t care about a one-time use script that is quickly written in a prompt I’ll use it.
Working on a big codebase, I don’t even get the idea to ask an AI, you just can’t feed enough context to the AI that it’s really able to generate meaningful code…
It’s definitely better than say a year ago, but it’s always a new small issue. Like suspend is not working, or shutting the monitor off crashes the graphics stack etc.
I really hope they get their shit together and build a solid wayland support at some (not too distant) time. But the amount of issues is small enough for me that I’ve switched to it.

Certainly, and as I (suspect) to have AuDHD (ADHD diagnosed).
This combination is really difficult to see/diagnose, as these conditions somewhat cancel each other out. It took me a very hyperfocused deep-dive into all kinds of papers, to slowly come to that conclusion, that ADHD doesn’t explain my behavior alone. AFAIK this is in some regard an active research-area (how correlated are these conditions, are they even the same underlying condition?).
(I think) few psychiatrists really have a deep insight into that (and thus are accurately diagnosing these).
I would say foremost: strong opinions and idealism (very much correlated to ASD and ADHD) E.g. about the fucked up state of centralized social media controlled by right-wing billionaires.
Always when I talk to other people I don’t suspect to be neurodivergent, they just don’t really care about it, convenience is the driving factor.
I mean for me both works (Ritalin just is a lot shorter and more up and downs, generally less effective).
Though, I’m indeed prescribed Elvanse it’s basically the hyperfocus drug IME (YMMV).
I’m really productive with it (I’m a passionate programmer, which probably helps), but sometimes well a little bit too productive (burning through complex problems for > 10 hours the day, sometimes completely ignoring other stuff I should be doing as well, and am somewhat exhausted after somehow escaping that hyperfocus, or finishing the issue). As I got “smarter” through it and like a learn a lot, I’ll just accept this as a net-positive effect, I have to deal with.
But I have more control over what I’m hyperfocusing at (as I’m less likely bored and distacted), and try to “focus” this on issues that deserve this hyperfocus.
I mean, I think the count of neurodiverse people on lemmy is likely very high (for various reasons). And since it’s highly genetically correlated, likely also the grandparents.
Have you tried meds (stims specifically) ? That significantly increased my productive hyperfocus phases.
Keep in mind there’s a strong correlation between ASD and ADHD. So that could just be the ADHD side of things.
Additionally use Kawase-Blur with a lot of blurring, and this is a non-issue.

Right, but you can also create accounts on different instances, so not really protected. Actually I think it’s very difficult to really filter bots when they’re done right, especially in times where LLMs start to be increasingly more popular.

I don’t think you can hear the difference between 320kbit bitrate vs flac in a blindtest (this is important, to avoid biasing yourself). I could notice what was a 128kbit mp3 and flac in a blindtest and already that was minimal (and is likely mostly related to the 16k cut-off of 128kbit mp3), but 320kbit, nope…
If you notice a difference it likely has to do with different mastering/LUFS etc. not the compression artifacts themself.
